BIOGRAPHY - Joaquín Amenábar

Joaquín Amenábar plays Bandoneón as a soloist as well as with his tango orchestra “Orquesta Típica de la Guardia Vieja”. He has danced tango since 1994 and has combined both disciplines to create an absolutely unique and practical method for teaching tango music to dancers without musical education.

His method doesn’t use any technical musical language but allows the dancers to learn and incorporate into their dance all the different rhythmic units of tango music, from the simplest to the most complicated and dancers of all levels can improve their musicality while dancing tango. For advanced dancers and teachers, Joaquin has formulated courses of Tango’s form and structure including syncopation, off-beat and irregular structures.

Joaquín has taught and played in concerts in Europe, USA, Istanbul, Australia and New Zealand. He has also published his book and DVD “Tango: Let’s dance to the music!” which combines explanations, graphics, audio exercises and videos.
